On Oct 23, 2024, the 'Xavier 1' ran aground on the shore in Barangay Buenlag caused by the surge of the tropical storm Kristina. The vessel had been at anchor, but the strong winds and high waves cuased the anchor to drag, and the dredge drifted towards the shore.No injuries were reported among the 13 crew members.

ABEILLE NORMANDIE
Several departures of migrant boats were reported to the CROSS Gris-Nez on Oct 25. During the night, the 'Abeille Normandie' was tasked to check the situation in the Audresselles sector, where a boat was monitored by the tug until it broke down and the people on board requested assistance. The 'Abeille Normandie' then launched its zodiac and picked up 68 people, who were then dropped off at the quay in Boulogne-sur-Mer n the middle of the night. The tug was then again engaged by the CROSS Gris-Nez after another boat departure was reported in the same Audresselles sector. The CROSS Gris-Nez also engaged the P-68 "Action Air Environnement" police aircraft, the VCSM 'Aber Ildut' and a Dauphin helicopter. A person was picked up by the semi-rigid boat of the 'Abeille Normandie' from the water and then transferred to the 'Aber Ildut' and dropped off at the quayside in Boulogne-sur-Mer.. The rest of the people refused the assistance offered by the French means and continued on their way. After the boat was located in the Hardelot sector, the 'Drôme' was launched which picked up a person in the water and another migrant requesting assistance on the boat. At the same time, the CROSS also deploys the French Navy's public service Dauphin helicopter based in Le Touquet to ensure that no one was still in difficulty in the water. The tug then picked up the VCSM 'Aber Ildut' off Le Portel, where another boat was reported. Given the number of migrants waiting on the beaches or in the water to board the boat, the CROSS also used the Dauphin helicopter to search for possible people at sea. Eight people who were unable to reach the boat from the shore were picked up by the boat of the 'Abeille Normandie' and then dropped off at Boulogne-sur-Mer in the afternoon. They were joined at the quayside by the two people previously picked up and transferred to the quayside too.
BOSTON PILOT MYSTIC
Th 'Mystic' struck rocks in the Cape Cod Canal on Oct 24, 2024, shortly after 2 p.m. on the mainland side by the Bourne Bridge. No injuries were reported. The US Army Corps of Engineers was investigating the incident. The U.S. Coast Guard was the lead investigating authority for the pilot vessel. Fuel and other pollutants have been mitigated. A tow truck attached lines to keep the pilot vessel stabilized on the ebb tide. It was expected to be removed later pending any delays in operations.
LOCH TARBERT
The 'Loch Tarbert', (IMO: 9039389)), serving on the route Tarbert-Portavadie, suffered a technical issue with the main engine on Oct 26, which requires further investigation. As a consequence, the departures from Tarbert at 08:00 a.m. and 09:00 a.m. and from Portavadie at 08:30 a.m. and 09:45 a.m. have been cancelled. After the issue was resolvedm the service resumed with the 4:15 p.m. sailing from Tarbert.
TYCHO BRAHE
The 'Tycho Brahe',, serving on the Øre Sound on the route Helsingør - Helsingborg, suffered problems most of Oct 24, 2024, and also on Oct 24 with the bow visor, which caused some delays. There is a cylinder that must be replaced, so the opertor was forced to take the 'Tycho Brahe' out of service in Helsingborg on Oct 24, as the visor has to be open when they have to replace the cylinder. The sail plan was supplemented by the ferry 'Mercandia IV'.
ALLURE OF THE SEAS
The search for a 66-year-old female passenger who fell overboard from the 'Allure of the Seas' was called off by the Royal Bahamas Defense Force after 15 hours of searching. The passenger fell ver boarx on the night of Oct 22, 2024, around 17 miles off of Nassau in the Bahamas during a 4-night cruise to the Bahamas that departed on Oct 21. The search for the passenger began as soon as the report of her falling overboard was made, at around 9:40 PM on October 22. The ship quickly turned around and beganthe search. The Royal Bahamas Defense Force and the US Coast Guard were promptly alerted for help. The Royal Bahamas Defense Force and the USGC deployed several resources, including an HC-144 aircraft and an MH-65 helicopter, to search for the missing passenger. However, by late afternoon of the next day, the search and rescue operation having yielded no fruit, the Defense Force stopped requesting assistance from the USGC and suspended the search pending any further developments.
LCT ASC BIGBOY
The tropical storm Kristine, which hit the Philippines on Oct 23, 2024, caused the LCT 'ASC Bigboy' to broke lose from its anchor chains. The ship then drifted towards the shore and ran aground 160 feet from the coast of Barangay Sugod. The vessel was breached and started leaking oil from a punctured fuel tank at port sie. No injuries were reported among the 17 crew members. Attempts to get the ship off the beach again with own power failed.
HERMANOS BRULL VILA
On the morning of Oct 25, 2024, the 'Hermanos Brull Vila" requested to be towed to port, after suffering a mechanical breakdown about 15 nautical miles from the green line of Tarragona. The 'Salvamar Fomalhaut' was tasked to assist by Salvamento Marítimo and has towed it to Cambrils.

DUHAIL
The 'Duhail', en route from Rovigon to Ras Laffan, requested the urgent evacuation of a sick crew member on the morning of Oct 26, 2024, about 20 nautical miles away from Las Palmas port. The MRCC of Salvamento Marítimo in Las Palmas mobilized the SAR helicopter Helimer 204 that hoisted the patient, who was transferred directly to the Negrín hospital for further medical treatment.
ALPHENAAR
The 'Alphenaar' , 1881 ts (EU-No.: 02338177), en route from Gouda to Rotterdam, allided with the railway bridge over the Gouwe near Gouda on the morning of Oct 24, 2024, causing train traffic between Gouda and Alphen aan den Rijn to come to a standstill for at least a few hours. The incident occurred at around 9:10 a.m. near the Nieuwe Gouwe OZ in Gouda. The emergency services were called in. ProRail is investigating the damage to the bridge. The vessel appeared to have freed by lowering inself a little with ballast water and sailed on, towards the Juliana Lockand the Hollandsche IJssel, where the police stopped the voyage. Train traffic was resumed around 11:00 a,m.
HUAN HANG 99
On Oct 23, 2024, the 'Huan Hang 99' wa approached by five unidentified small vessels, which retreated when warning shots were fired. The ship was near the southern coast of Aden during the incident.
PSP CORMORAN
On the afternoon of Oct 25, a migrant boat departure was reported to the CROSS Gris-Nez, which deployed the PSP 'Cormoran' to search for the boat in the area off the Walde Lighthouse. Once relocated, the boat was monitored by the 'Cormoran', which launched its operational drome boat (EDO) to make contact with it and continued surveillance for several hours, while the migrant boat entered the Pas-de-Calais traffic separation system without requesting assistance. After hearing screams on the boat, the 'Cormoran' put its drome boat back into the water, which transferred 35 people on board the patrol boat, who were requesting assistance, while several people still on board the boat refused the assistance offered by the French resources. At the same time, the CROSS Gris-Nez broadcast a Mayday Relay and also engaged the French Navy's Dauphin helicopter based in Le Touquet to search for any people in the water. An RNLI) boat and a British Border Force vessel joined the search. The latter picked up the rest of the migrants who had not requested assistance from the 'Cormoran'. After all French and British resources had ensured that no one was in the water, the 'Cormoran' dropped off the 35 people rescued in Calais in the middle of the night.
SAMSOE
The "Samsø ", operating between Ballen on Samsø and Kalundborg, allided with the quay in Kalundborg on the morning of Oct 26, 2024. A door for the passengers opened too soon and hit a fender when the ferry was navigating to its berth. The door got hold of the fender and was almost ripped off. Craftsmen had to be brought in and worked on fixing hinges and other things. Then the monitoring classification society had to approve that it was safe to sail on, and the same had to be done by the Danish Maritime Authority. Finally the ferry could sail from Kalundborg towards Ballen at around 4.45 p.m. A few sailings had been canceled and the rest delayed. The ship was expected to sail as scheduled on Oct 27.
EXCELSIOR
On the evening of Oct 23, 2024, a fire broke out in the funnel of the “Excelsior” in the port of Genoa, ahead of the departure to Palermo. The ship, which was due to leave at 11 p.m., remained stationary in the port for 12 hours with 252 passengers and over 300 vehicles on board, including commercial vehicles and cars, and left again on Oct 24 shortly before 11 a.m. The fire started shortly before departure from the smoke exhausts. The crew managed to put out the flames The Coast Guard and Rina carried out inspections on board. The passengers were promptly assisted and kept constantly informed. Water and snacks were offered free of charge and meals and breakfast offered free of charge.

The Justice Department announced that the Grace Ocean and Synergy Marine, the Singaporean corporations that owned and operated the 'Dali', have agreed to pay $102m to resolve a civil claim brought by the US five weeks ago for costs borne in responding to the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore. A host of other court cases was ongoing. The settlement does not include any damages for the reconstruction of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. The state of Maryland built, owned, maintained, and operated the bridge, and attorneys on the state’s behalf filed their own claim for those damages. The settlement is only a small part of the massive legal claims the owners and operators are facin for the allision. Other cases include suits filed by the city of Baltimore, the state of Maryland, and families of the victims plus a number of businesses who lost money from the supply chain chaos that followed the accident. While Grace Ocean and Synergy have sought to cap their liabilities to just $43.67m, Maryland’s attorney general, Anthony Brown, has said he will seek a far higher figure in damages. The 'Dali' is actually underway to a ship repair base in the Fujian province with an ETA as of Nov 8.
