Ship released in Olbia
On March 11 the Port State Control Officers (PSCO), of the Port Authority of Olbia, carried out another inspection of the 'Lord Joy' which had been seized at the Cocciani industrial pier following an administrative detention on March 5, following some serious shortcomings relatied to the engine and maintenance procedures. The verification activity has finally given a positive result, given that all irregularities that cause the ship to be arrested have been remedied. The ship, carrying a cargo of marble from Alicante, was released and has resumed the voyage to Port Said.
Detention in Olbia
The Port Authority of Olbia detained the 'Lord Joy' on March 5, 2020, after an inspection at the industrial dock Cocciani in Olbia, where it had arrived on March 3. The ship was loaded with marble and was enroute from Alicante to Port Said. During the inspection, deficiencies regarding the safety of navigation were found, some of which were the reason for the arrest. In particular, the Coast Guard inspectors found serious shortcomings relating to the engine and related maintenance procedures as well as safety standards required by international legislation. The vessel will remain in detention until the rectification of these serious deficiencies.
