Ship found overloaded in Brunsbüttel
On Feb 1, 2020, the 'Mila' was found to be overloaded upon its entry in the small southern lock in Brunsbüttel enroute from Velsen to Szczecin with a cargo of 3,360 tons of steel at 9.30 a.m. The police initiated an administrative offense procedure and collected a security deposit. Investigations carried out on board showed that the seasonal minimum freeboard was eight centimeters short. According to the ship's hydrostatic data, this corresponded to an overload of around 80 tons. The Department of Ship Safety oimposed a sailing a ban until the draught was corrected. A security deposit of 2,300 Euros to secure the procedure was ordered. The ship berthed at the sailing ship pilings in the canal port of Brunsbüttel. It left Brunsbüttel again after the draught was corrected, on Feb 5 at 2 p.m. On Feb 6 at 7.15 p.m. it arrived in Szczecin. On Fevb 7 at 1.20 a.m. it continued its voyage to Soelvesborg with an ETA as of 7 p.m.
