Batouwe stabilized
The collision of the "Batouwe" and the "Therese Straub" on Oct 24, 2011, was probably caused by a rudder failure of one of the ships involved. The "Batouwe" which was loaded with gravel and which had suffered significant bow damage was temporarily in danger of sinking but could later be stabilized. The fire brigade was on scene and dewatered the ship with a pump capable of 750 litres per minute. The "Therese Straub" with a cargo of kerosine was able to proceed to Amsterdam. The police launched an investigation. Dutch reports with photos and video: http://www.rtvutrecht.nl/nieuws/396307 http://www.schuttevaer.nl/nieuws/actueel/nid16587-aanvaring-bij-maarssen.html
