Tanker dragged anchor in Bosporus
On Oct 28, 2013, the Bosporus had to be closed for ship traffic after the "YM Miranda" went adrift after a steering failure with a crew of 17 on board enroute from Damietta to Yuzhnyy in strong currents. The ship dropped anchor at Anadolu Hisar, but as the anchor dragged it got entangled in fiber cables on the bottom. Before the ship was freed, shipping was allowed again. The vessel traffic service dispatched the tug "Kurtarma 4" to take the ship in tow. The ship heaved anchor and was then anchored in a water depth of 60 meters at the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge. It was found out that one fiber optic cable was broken and two more damaged.
