Crew boat rescued lost sport angler

Thu May 23 09:38:34 CEST 2019 Timsen

The "Windcat 28" assisted in the search for a disorienated sport fisher in a rubber boat in the evening of May 21, 2019, NE of Rostock. The DGzRS boats "Arkona" from Warnemünde and "Barsch" from Wustrow jointly with the fire brigade Dierhagen had launched a search for the 65 year old man who had left Dierhagen-Neuhaus in the midday hours but got lost in the fog and requested help with his mobile phone at 6 p.m. After the MRCC in Bremen asked the nearby shipping to keep sharp lookout, the "Windcat 28“ offered help and searched the coast between Graal-Müritz and Dierhagen. The angler heard the typhoon-signal of the crew boat, and short time after its crew located the white rubber boat 1,5 kilometers off the coast. The man did not need medical help, and the volunteer fire brigade Dierhagen took over and transferred him to shore, escorted by the "Barsch".
