Lost cargo hampering ship traffic

Whie the "Wilson Leer" reached the fishing port of Bremerhaven on Sep 1 at 4 p.m., the four steel elemets lost in the Northsea are to be recovered the forthcoming week according to Rijkswaterstaat. Each measures 6 x 20 meters and has a weight of 30 tons. The position is 30 kilometres west of IJmuiden at the northern side of the fairway, thereby hampering ship traffic. On Sep 3 salvage work was due to start.

Wilson Leer lost bridge elements of IJmjuiden

On Aug 31, 2012, at 10.10 a.m. the "Wilson Leer" lost six steel bridge elements 30 kilometers west of IJmuiden in stormy weather. Four sank in the IJ-Channel, which is the fairway to IJmuiden and Amsterdam. The ship which was bound from Rotterdam to Sweden origninally, proceeded to Bremerhaven with an ETA of Sep 1, 7 p.m. The Dutch Coastguard vessel "Arca" left the port of Scheveningen at 7 p.m. to survey the exact position and location of the lost bridge elements.
