Dredger recovered wreckage of trawler which was wrecked in 1975

Mon Aug 31 10:54:13 CEST 2020 Timsen

During dreding work, the 'Toste R' recovered wreckage of the Polish trawler 'Brdga' off Hanstholm, which sank on Jan 11, 1975, in a stormy night. 10 Polish fishermen drowned in the shipwreck off the harbour of Hanstholm. Now a number of effects and large parts of the wreck have been salvaged in connection with the ongoing port expansion. 10 of on the whole 27 fishermen disappeared one by one in the waves before the eyes of hundreds of people who wanted to help but could not reachthe sunken ship that had capsized. At that time they did not have the rescue equipment that could be used for rescue in such shipwrecks. 17 fishermen were taken off by a rescue helicopter. Now, effects and large steel parts of the 'Brda' have been salvaged which was carrying out part of the 10-meter deepeing and purification that was currently being completed at the new deep-water quay. The ship's bell was among the salvaged effects, which also consisted of rope blocks, chains and wires. The larger parts were the lower part of the bow and several frame pieces and bottom parts.
