Cabin cruiser allided with lock

Thu Apr 17 13:10:05 CEST 2014 Timsen

On Apr 16, 2014, the "Queen Maxima" allided with the dividing dam of the lock Eddersheim on the Main. The ship had been caught by the current and hit the lock with the port side bow. 150 meters on, the vessel allided another time with the lock, hitting the bulkhead. The "Milano" which was just leaving the southern chamber of the lock had to stop in order to avoid a collision with the cabin cruiser. The master of the "Queen Maxima" made a failure of the steering gear responsible for the accident, though this could not be confirmed during tests of the police investigators. There were no passengers on board at the time of the allision.
