Tanker drifted with engine trouble
The "STI Acton" with a crew of 22 on board, experienced an electrical problem with the engine No.1 in position 50 24.4092 N, 00 27.3640 W, 23 miles south-east of Sesey Bill, on Jan 3, 2019, at 9.30 p.m. The vessel was en route from Nowlo, Waterloo to Bilbao. The estimated time to carry out the repairs was one to two hours. The vessel had loaded 35110 tonnes of diesel oil. The crew reported a Defrep to Dover Coastguard upon leaving the south-west bound lane of the TSS. The crew requested to broadcast regular security announcements informing other vessels in the area that they are not under command. The Solent Coastguard was conducting welfare checks with the vessel every 60 minutes. The vessel was drifting 2.4 knots at 234 degrees. After the crew completed the repairs and testing of the replacement part the ship continued on its passage to Bilbao, ETA Jan 6.
Scorpio receives Ice Class 1A product tanker
STI Acton, Handymax Ice Class 1A product tanker, was delivered from HMD in September 2014. Upon delivery, vessel began a time charter for up to 120 days at a rate level consistent with the current market.
