Thu Jun 28 20:56:36 CEST 2018 Timsen

The "Sea Cargo Express", having sailed from Trondheim at 5.35 a.m., wascauhgt by a gust during the mooring manoever and blown aground in Røtet while entering Surnadal in the afternoon of June 28, 2018. The ferry got stuck in the clay bottom in pos. 62° 59.29' N 008° 38.99' E just off the port after having been caught by a powerful wind. Despite inert attempts to avoid the grounding, the crew failed to turn the ferry on time. Tugs were called from Kristiansund. There was no danger of a leakage. At 8 p.m. the lifeboat "Erik Bye" arrived on site, but was waiting for the tide to rise. After the ferry was refloated at 3.20 a.m., it proceeded to Kristiansund with own power and berthed in port on June 29 at 7.30 a.m. Norwegian reports with photos: https://www.tk.no/nyheter/surnadal/havn/sea-cargo-express-blaste-pa-grunn/s/5-51-485735 https://www.trollheimsporten.no/lasteskip-paa-grunn.6131719-151936.html https://www.driva.no/_incoming/2018/06/28/Lasteskip-p%C3%A5-grunn-i-Surnadalsfjorden-17024187.ece

Wed Mar 06 21:06:04 CET 2013 Timsen

On Mar 6, 2013, at 7:55 a.m. emergency services in Ålesund were dispatched to the "Sea-Cargo Express" at Flatholmen. The ship carrying dangerous cargo requested assistance after the cargo shifted while passing Stad in the morning. The ship had entered the harbor in Ålesund at 8:40. It has a crew of 14. Approximately 17,000 liters of toxic and flammable liquid drained out of the hold. One of the liquids was corrosive, the other was described as flammable and toxic. The leak could be contained to the cargo area. Four people were exposed to toxic liquid but no one was injured. The fire department assists with getting the cargo pumped out. It was unclear whether the cargo was well enough secured.First a duty officer had to help to open the gate of the port. Several fire engines, ambulances and police stood in line outside without being able to get to the ship. Police were considering cutting the fence to get into the area.
