River cruise ship grounded on the Rhine
On Nov 8, 2018, at 4.55 p.m. the "Regina Rheni" (EU-No.: 02324591) ran aground on the Rhine off the Beethoven hall in Bonn. It got stuck on a gravel bar at starboard side. The ship had on board 125 passengers. Owner, representants of the relevant shipping authority and the master were negotiating jointly how to refloat the ship. Initially it was decided to start work with the help of a barge in the morning of Nov 9, but a 7.30 p.m. the ship managed to back off without assistance and moored nearby. On Nov 9 it continued its voyage, and at 4.15 p.m. it arrived in Andernach. Allision in Bamberg
The "Regina Rheni" allided with a barge in the port of Bamberg in the evening of Oct 28, 2015. When unmooring, the cabin cruiser scraped along the 70-m-barge at the quay with ist starboard side bow which was breached above the water line on a length of eight meters. Several bollards broke out of the deck. The hull of the barge was damaged too. Short before midnight the cabin cruiser was permitted to continue the voyage to Würzburg. The damage was estimated to be around 100.000 Euro. None of the 61 passengers nor 41 crew members were hurt. Cigarette caused ship fire
The fire aboard the "Regina Rheni" on July 13 was caused by a cigarette thrown into a garbage dump by a crew member, the police found out. The garbage dump was set alight, and the flames expanded to the kitchen area. The "Regina Rheni" which suffered severe damage was meanwhile towed to the Netherlands for repairs.
