Lighter ship of Bravo Trader sank
The Bangladesh registered lighter ship "Sea Crown", carrying 1,100 tonnes of imported stone taken over from the "Bravo Trader" capsized in the river Karnaphuli near Karnaphuli 3rd Bridge on May 23, 2019, at 9.30 a.m. All 13 crew members jumped on to adjoining boats and vessels. After loading stones from the mother vessel r at the outer anchorage of Chattogram Port, the lighter vessel had reached the private terminal near Old Ferryghat at Isanagar on the south bank of the river in the evening of May 22 and was waiting there for the unloading, which was supposed to start the next morning. As the vessel got stuck in the stone-made embankment on the river bank during the Nor’wester early in the day, the owner company Mamata Trading called a tug which tried to move it, but failed. Instead, a crack developed on its bottom and it immediately sank. The "Bravo Trader" had sailed from Xiamen to Chittagong on May 4.
