Tensions on board due to overdue crew change

Mon Jun 29 21:19:30 CEST 2020 Timsen

The crew of the 'Peristil' got in a tense situation on board, caused by a long overdue crew change. 14 of in total 21 crew members to be exchanged for quite some time already, rising conflicts and aggressions on board. The ship was en route from Bayuguan to Indonesia as of June 28, 2020, sailing in the northwest East China Sea with an ETA as of July 6, sailing in ballast. The ship was chartered to take cargo in Indonesia, which was sto be delivered to China. The managing company JAdroplov was planning a call in Hong Kong to change crew during the return trip from Indonesia, to minimize financial losses. Singapore and South Korea weren’t an option, thanks to very complicated procedures and practices. In South Korea sign–off seamen have to undergo 14-day quarantine in terse conditions, being accomodated in containers.
