PACIFIC REEFER 9179268

Thu Sep 30 08:52:58 CEST 2010 Timsen

On Sep 28, 2010, the Hamburg custom found eight kg cocaine aboard the "Pacific Reefer" which was berthed at the Oswald-Quay. Already on Sep 14 the police had been informed, that the Russian crew had found the drugs before passing the Panama Canal. The ship had loaded bananas in Puerto Bolivar/Ecuador bonund for Hamburg and a further stop at Guayaquil/Ecuador before sailing to Europe. As the bananas blocked the access to the drug packages and the cargo would have to be unloaded completely, the hatch 2 was seales by the authorities in the Marin, the first port in Europe. The ship then proceeded to Zeebrugge before entering the port of Hamburg on Sep 28 at 1 p.m. The customers surveyed the unloading work aboard, and at 10 p.m. they could reach six hpackages hidden on deck C. Probably harbour workers in Puerto Bolivar had placed the drugs which seem to have been destined for Hamburg in the hatch.
