Allision off St. Nazaire

Mon Aug 12 18:03:07 CEST 2024 Timsen

On Aug 9, 2024, at 9:22 p.m, the 'Olga' was in allision with the Gibraltar flagged tanker 'Iver Blessing' (IMO: 9588287), which was moored at the approach of St Nazaire, while leaving its own anchorage. The 'Iver Blessing' reported five minor injuries not requiring medical treatment, and a breach at the rear of the vessel above the waterline, which did not affect the buoyancy. The bulk carrier suffered a hole above its waterline, which also did not affect the structural integrity. A minor pollution due to the fall of an oil drum was observed. A police investigation has been launched to determine the causes of the accident. Five bulk carriers to be loaded with 120000 tons Ukrainian grain

Mon Oct 02 10:37:48 CEST 2023 Timsen

Five bulk carriers, the 'Olga', 'Ida', 'Danny Boy', 'Forza Doria' and 'New Legacy', were heading to its Black Sea ports for loading, while three others recently have left with cargoes, as Kyiv seeks to overcome the Russian blockade of its commodity exports. The five vessels will be loaded with 120,000 tons of grain for Africa and Europe at the so-called ports of big Odesa, which include Chornomosk and Pivdennyi The ships were transiting the temporary corridor set up by the Ukrainian Navy, heading towards the ports, despite Russian threats to attack vessels after Moscow exited a United Nations and Turkey-brokered grain deal in the summer. Alternative trade routes via ports on the Danube river have been attacked by Kremlin drones. Outbound shipments of grain plunged to 1.75 million tons in September, from 3 million tons in August. The bulk carriers 'Azara', 'Ying Hao 01' and 'Eneida' were heading southwest, after leaving Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi with over 127,000 tons of agricultural products and iron ore.
