Tanker company heavily fined after videos emergeod of tanker pumping oily water into the sea

Fri Dec 14 18:27:56 CET 2018 Timsen

After a crew member of the "Nave Cielo" delivered two spectacular videos to the US Coast Guard in November 2017 whih revealed that the tanker pumped oily water directly into the sea while sailing from New Orleans to Belgium, the shipping company has received a fine of two million dollars. The fine was extra large because it was not apparent from the ship's papers that the discharge had taken place. The verdict resulted from a crew member handed out the videos to the US Coast Guard when tits officers were on board for a routine inspection.
