On 13-JAN-2011 at 04:30 LT, the DK Flag, 45,999 DWT, 183m LOA tanker 'TORM CLARA' was boarded by armed pirates 2nm SW of Kampung Sungai Buntu, Johor, Malaysia, on bearing 7. Three pirates armed with pistols and knives were spotted in the engine room. Alarm was raised, crew mustered and locked themselves in a safe room. Later on investigation crew found steering gear room lock damaged but nothing stolen from the vessel. No crew were harmed during incident reported to Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Authority.
