Crewmember injured during towing attempts
Afted the cargo m/v 'Valday' went adrift rudderless towards the south, an attempt to secure and tow the ship have so far failed. A crew member of the 'Multraship Commander' was injured in one of those attempts. The ship had no cargo anx seven crew members on board and was located 22 kilometers off the coast of Rotterdam. The crew member of the tug was taken to hospital by the coastguard helicopter. The waves on the North Sea can reach a height of around four metres at a wind force of 8 to 9. According to the Coastguard, other ships besides the Valday wre experiencing problems due to the storm. Their engines failed or they did not remain at their anchorage. The Coastguard was in contact with these ships.
