Tanker suspected to have caused air pollution
The water police Brake has started preliminary investigations regarding a pollution of the Nordenham area with soot particles by the "Annelise Theresa". The tanker had delivered 3000 tonnes of heavy fuel oil to the Rhenus Midgard GmbH in Nordenhamon Feb 16, 2013. During the day the ship's smokestack was blown with compressed air get to rid of debris in the pipes. The ejected particulates were probably blown by the east winds towards the city center of Nordenham and could have led to the contamination. Since the tanker had been since left the port again, the investigations were difficult. The Water Police Brake pursued the matter with the impetus of a lawsuit. Charged would be the chief engineer. The prosecutor Oldenburg was informed about the status of investigations. Contamination of the beach could not be established so far.
