Freighter troubled off Ushant
On Feb 22, 2020, the 'Missouriborg' suffered a propulsion failure in the early afternoon of Feb 22 in the traffic separation scheme off Ushant. On Feb 22 at 9:30 p.m., in view of the weather conditions and the speed of drift of the disabled vessel, the Maritime Prefect of the Atlantic had asked the owner of the ship to take all measures to put an end to the danger posed by the 'Missouriborg' for navigation and the environment. The ship was then located less than 17 nautical miles west of Ushant. As the ship was unable to regain its full propulsion at the end of the time set by the prefects the French offshore tug 'Sapeur' (IMO: 9270397) was tasled to take the 'Missouriborg' in tow to an anchorage in the Douarnenez Bay. The towage commenced at 11.45 p.m. On Feb 24 the freighter remained moored in pos. 48° 12.42' N 004° 28.67' W. The ship had been enroute from Setubal to Mäntyluoto with an ETA as of Feb 28. The ship left the bay on Feb 25 and finally arrived in Mäntyluoto on March 3 at 9.30 a.m. French report with photo: https://www.premar-atlantique.gouv.fr/communiques-presse/remorquage-du-cargo-missouriborg-par-le-remorqueur-sapeur
