Collision off Santos

Tue May 13 09:59:26 CEST 2014 Timsen

In the morning of May 11, 2014, the "Copenhagen" was in collision with the ferry "FB 23" from Dersa, off São Paulo. The collision happened when the ship left the Santos Dock at 2.25 a.m. and moved out of the approach channel to the Port of Santos. The "Copenhagen" returned to warehouse 32 after the accident. The port authority on May 12 interrogated the master of the vessel, his deputy and the chief engineer. According to witnesses the cargo ship had suffered a power loss before hitting the ferry which was moored at the quay off service and with no passengers on board. The "Copenhagen" suffered damage to the superstructure. The "FB 23" was damaged at the hull, but remained ready for service, repairs were expected to be carried out the forthcoming days. No pollution reported. Portuguese report with photo: http://www.atribuna.com.br/porto-mar/ap%C3%B3s-acidente-respons%C3%A1veis-por-navio-e-balsa-prestam-depoimento-1.379953
