Status of detained ship could be resolved within one month
Within 30 days the legal status of the "Caballo Maya" could be resolved according to the former captain of Puerto de Veracruz, Delfino Cruz Santos. In the meantime the ship will continue to be under guard at the facilities of the port of Veracruz. The vessel was currently in the possession of the Panamanian company Marfield LTD. Before leaving, she will have to pay for the time docked in the port or at least guarantee it. The crew was relieved by another.
Abandoned ship back at T dock in Veracruz
The "Caballo Maya" is back at the T dock after more than a year in the port of Veracruz during which its legal status has not been resolved. Apparently there are two companies disputing the vessel, including the previous Oceanography and another company. Another problem was that the crew has changed several times. Several crew even some have been losing their wages.
Detained vessel shifted to pier T in Veracruz
The "Caballo Maya" has recently been moved from the anchorage of Veracruz to Pier T reight before the start of the cyclone season because of safety concerns in regard of problems with the main engine due to a lack of maintenance. Because of the legal situation no one could get to maintain it off the port. Later the ship will be removed to another area of the port of Veracruz because of the celebration of the Navy Day on June 1. The ship belongs to the fleet of the oil company Banamax that was seized by the federal government for an alleged fraud of more than six billion Pesos.
