Repairs of collison with transporter bridge completed

Wed Feb 10 09:37:30 CET 2016 Timsen

The "Evert Prahm" left the repair yard in Söby on Feb 10 short past midnight after the repairs of the collision damage with the transporter bridge in Rendsburg and headed for Rostock as first port of call, ETA Feb 10 at noon.

Repair in Denmark

Sat Jan 16 21:13:48 CET 2016 Timsen

The "Evert Prahm" left the communal port of Rendsburg in the morning of Jan 15 and docked in the Danish port Soeby at 5.10 p.m. for repairs.

Evert Prahm being unloaded before sailing to repair yard

Thu Jan 14 09:55:16 CET 2016 Timsen

From Jan 12 to Jan 15 the cargo of 1900 tons corn of the "Evert Prahm" was unloaded at the quay of the communal port in Rendsburg and transported to its destination Husum with trucks. Also temporary repairs to the navigation system were carried out. On Jan 13 the ship was permitted to sail to a repair yard. Meanwhile the AIS-data was being analyzed by the authorities in order to find out the cause of the collision with the transporter bridge in Rendsburg. It was already known that the ship was underway with 8,4 knots on the Kiel Canal when the ferry unexpectedly for the three persons on the wheelhouse of the cargo ship - the watch officer on duty, the pilot and the coxswain - departed from the north shore. When it became clear that the collision was unevitable, the watch officer ordered the engine to stop. When the ship slammed into the ferry it had, however, still a speed of six knots. The skipper of the ferry was still in hospital with fractures and other injuries and could not yet be interrogated.
