Fire in engine room
On July 17 at 8.30 p.m. a fire broke out in the engine room of the "Bo Elise" on the Rhine at river km 830. The master remarked smoke but was unable to enter the engine room. He was able to navigate his ship to the dreding hole Eckerfeld, where he docked at the quay of the company Hülskens. He was able to save himself and two more crew members. The fire brigade attended with engines from Haffen-Mehr, Rees and Bienen. Also a boat of the fire rescue was launched at Haffen-Mehr and located the burning ship. After the fire rescue had forced its way onto the Hülskens-area, they ordered the fire boat of the fire brigade Wesel. Also the DLRG attended. The fire rescue was able to extinguish the fire at 10 p.m. The fire was found to have been caused by a technical malfunction.
