Leaking barge in Breskens
The "Marije G", 1391 ts (EU-No.: 2310269), suffered water ingress in the forepeak in the commercial port of Breskens on Sep 6, 2018, at 9 a.m. The ship's own pumps could not cope the flooding. The fire rescue, the KNRM boat "Zeeemanshoop", Rijkswaterstaat with the patrol boat "RWS 79" and the salvors of Multraship attended and worked to dewater the barge and thus keep it afloat. The lifeboat crew had immediately informed the fire brigade and provided more pump capacity on site as quickly as possible. Both the fire brigade and the lifeboat were quickly on the spot and transferred pumps to get the forepeak drained. After pumping for a while the leak appeared above the surface. When the Multraship salvage company arrived on site, they took over from the emergency services. The situation was under control at that time. The "Marije G" had sailed from Terneuzen on Sep 5 at 10.30 p.m. and was bound to Darse de Hautrage. She had entered the port basin at 2.30 a.m. Dutch reports with photos: https://www.tugspotters.com/app/content/2018/09/hulpdiensten-houden-beunschip-boven-water/ https://www.knrm.nl/nieuws/knrm-reddingstation-breskens/binnenvaarder-maakt-water-in-haven-breskens https://www.omroepzeeland.nl/nieuws/108018/Binnenvaartschip-maakt-water-in-haven-Breskens
