Freighter wreaked havoc in marina

The "Maestro", being fully loaded with reels of cable suffered a blackout while maneuvering upon its arrival from Taranto to its berth at St. Louis du Rhône in a marina area in the morning of Oct 16, 2018. The disabled ship allided with seven boats and yachts in the marina. The damage was significant, one of the boats, a 10-meter yacht, sank. Three people were thrown into the water and slightly injured. One had to be hospitalized. 30 firefighters from Marseille and Bouches-du-Rhône attended with 14 vehicles, including two boats, and 30 personnel, including two divers. The SDIS 13 and the Maritime Police were also mobilized. The pier of the marine suffered considerable damages, and the ship suffered dents at the portside bow. It ship was berthed with the help of tugs of the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille at 8.45 a.m. The firefighters continued to recover the debris.
