E.R. Schiffahrt to Manage 3 More Maersk Ships

Sat Jul 15 10:13:17 CEST 2017 arnekiel

Hamburg-based ship manager E.R. Schiffahrt informs it has been appointed by Maersk Line to manage three further vessels. With this new mandate, E.R. Schiffahrt increases the managed fleet for the world’s largest liner company from six to nine. The new contract comprises the management of three 8,400 teu containerships and includes the crew and technical management, as well as additional services relating to safety/security, environmental protection and energy efficiency. The 11-year-old container vessels will be bare boat chartered by Maersk and continue to be trading as Maersk Saigon, Maersk Stralsund and Maersk Seoul. The ship management service began July 13, 2017.

Grounding off Santos

Tue Dec 08 09:15:15 CET 2015 Timsen

The "Maersk Saigon" ran aground off Santos near the buoy 2A on Dec 7, 2015, at 3.40 p.m. during her departure manoeuvre at the BTP Terminal and being bound for Port Elizabeth while operating on the ASAS service. The ship got stuck about 30 meters off the right side of the fairway. She was refloated with the assistance of a single tug at 10:30 p.m. and was safely anchored while awaiting further inspection to assess any potential structural damages. The fairway was barred for shipping for several hours. Maersk was hopeful the vessel could make up the lost time on its Atlantic transit once it has been declared seaworthy.
