Engine failure off Phu My

Mon Feb 08 10:36:55 CET 2021 Timsen

The 'Maersk Essex' suffered an engine failure while enroute from Salalah to the Vung Tau Container Port in Phu My on Feb 8, 2021, at 03.25 a.m. near buoy 0. The disabled ship drifted in southern direction and had to anchor for troubleshooting. It resumed sailing around 6 a.m. and reached the Cai Mep Internationa Terminal on Feb 8 around 9 a.m. The Vung Tau traffic control center responded to accident by direct regulating traffic in the fairway in order to avoid accidents.
