Laska towed to Kaliningrad for repairs
The "Laska" which was detained since Jan 23 was allowed to leave the port of Wismar on Mar 13 being towed by two tugs. The ship was destined for Kaliningrad where repairs are to be carried out. As the ship was not classified as seaworthy it may not sail with own engine. In the foremidday of Mar 13 the Russian tug "Norsund“ reached Wismar for this purpose. In the afternoon the ships started their trip and hoped to reach Kaliningrad within three days. The "Fairplay II“ assisted. Detention in Wismar
The "Laska" is being detained in Wismar. The ship berthed on Jan 23, 2013, and was detained following a port state control which was undertaken after doubts regarding its seaworthiness arose. Now it is up to the owner to restore the seaworthiness in accordance with international Standards to get the ship re-certified. Unfortunately, so far, despite intensive contacts with the shipping Company Laska Shipping UAB in Klaipeda nothing has happened. There are also delays in payment of wages of the crew, which is still on board. The ship meanwhile was docked in the Old Port.
