Container ship banned from Paris MOU ports after latest detention
The "Lady Nuray" was detained in Trieste on Jan 7, 2025, with 17 deficiencies, nine of which being regarded as seriously and grounds for a detention: 1) Structural conditions - Steering gear Not as required 2) Certificate & Doc - Seafarers employment agreement Expired 3) Safety of navigation - Radar Missing 4) Fire safety - Fire doors/openings in fire resisting division Not as required 5) Fire safety - Remote Means of control (Machinery spaces) Inoperative 6) Fire safety - Evaluation of crew performance Lack of training 7) Pollution Prevention - Oil filtering equipment 'Inoperative 8)) Labour conditions - Sanitary facilities Not as required 9) ISM - Ism certificate Not as required The vessel was released again on Jan 13, but has been banned from all Paris MOU ports for the next three months. Freighter detained in Thessaloniki
The 'Lady Nuray' was subjected to a Port State Control (PSC) inspection at the port of Thessaloniki in the evening of Dec 20, 2019. As a result of the inspection, the vessel was detained due to several serious deficiencies in Annex X of directive CO 209/16/EC., in accordance with the Paris MOU.
Master died in fall on board
The 47-year old Turkish master of the 'Lady Nuray' died on board of his ship in the afternoon of Dec 18, 2019. The ship was berthed at at Dock 22-23 in Thessaloníki. During unloading operations he fell 2,5 meters deep from an elevated point on the deck in the container landing area and hit his head. He was tanken to the University General Hospital in Thessaloniki but pronounced dead on arrival. A preliminary investigation was under way by the Port Authority of Thessaloniki. The ship had ccome from Taranto with a cargo of iron and was next bound to Gemlik.
