Freighter disabled in English Canal

Mon Jan 29 18:42:38 CET 2018 Timsen

The "Lady Ann-Lynn" suffered engine failure in the evening of Jan 28, 2018, in the English Canal east of Dungeness, while en route from Brake, where it had sailed on Jan 26, to England. The trouble occurred due to a lube fuel leak in the engine room in position lat 50 54 47.4N, long 1 08 35.2E, at 7.3 nautical miles from Dungeness at 5.22 p.m. The vessel had 2160 tonnes of wood pulp, 38.5 cubic litres of gas oil and 2.8 cubic litres of lube oil on board. It was transiting the Dover Traffic Sepaation Scheme, when the incident occurred. The tug "Multratug 20" (IMO: 9572006) was contracted to assist and sailed from Rotterdam in the evening, and the freighter was taken on tow at around noon on Jan 29, bound to Flushing, where it was safely berthed on Jan 30 at 4.30 a.m. She sailed again on Feb 9 at 5.25 p.m., next being bound to Greenock, ETA Feb 13.
