Jebsen attended distressed sand carrier
on Nov 10, 2014, the Norwegian sand carrier "Heimtun", 310 gt (IMO: 5298963), around 8 p.m. sprang aleak and had to dump 150 tons of sand to be kept afloat bound for the OH Betong company in Indre Arna. The ship had run aground after having sailed from Mostraum in the Sørfjord between Breistein and Valestrandsfossen. The ship began taking on water. First the crew of three tried to tackle the flooding with the ship's pumps, but then it became clear it would have to dump the cargo. At 8.23 p.m. the ship docked at Arnavågen in Indre Arna, where the fire department was ready and immediately came on board with additional bilge pumps, and divers checked the damage to the hull. The situation was under control at 8.40 p.m. The lifeboat "Kristian Gerhard Jebsen - RS 137" from NSSR-station Bergen came alingsisde, and also the Coast Guard attended. Pleasure boat slammed into rescue boat
On June 21, 2011, a pleasure boat ran into the rescue boat "Kristian Gerhard Jebsen" which was moored at Kleppestø, and ran off after the accident. The crew which had been watching TV when the boat ran into their ship, followed the other boat which did not react. The police was notified at 6.10 p.m. and suspected that the driver of the boat was drunk. The boat was stopped 70-80 feet off the shore in Florvåg with a rope in its propeller, but its operator was not willing to go to the shore, where a police patrol waited. The police then sent the police boat "Kjølen" to arrest the operator, who was controlled with alcohol meters with negative results. He was later taken to the Askøy emergency services to take an extended sample. His boat has obvious damage on the bow, and eyewitnesses said the driver had been about to fall overboard. The "Kristian Gerhard Jebsen" was surveyed and was back in service in the evening after only minor scratches were found. The other boat, however, had a large hole in the bow.
