Engine room fire alarm

Fri Jan 24 19:26:41 CET 2014 Timsen

The "Liselotte Essberger" suffered an engine room fire Alarm after having entered the Kiel Canal on Jan 23 at 7.30 p.m. in Brunsbüttel. The ship was enroute from Terneuzen to Porvoo with a cargo of benzol. The automatic fire extinguishing system was activated after vapor escaped from a boiler triggering the alarm. As a consequence the classification was withdrawn. The ship was taken in tow in Schülp by the tugs "Kitzeberg" and "Holtenau" which were called from Kiel, on Jan 24 around midday. In the run of the day it was being towed eastbound by the "Holtenau" towards Kiel with the "Kitzeberg" as stern tug. At 9.15 p.m. the ship was berthed at the North Jetty in the Scheer Port.
