The "Kelly C" ran aground in the afternoon of Aug 24, 2015, in the Eo near the port of Ribadeo during a turning manoever while departing from the port in Lugo, where she had arrived on Aug 23 from Ceuta. The grounding was caused by an accumulation of sand on the bottom of the estuary. On Aug 24 at 9.30 p.m. the ship mananged to get out of the shoal assisted by the tug "Gondán".
