Damage during cargo operations

Mon Feb 03 10:57:59 CET 2020 Timsen

The 'Ibla' suffered a structural failure in the cargo hold and pertinent equipment during cargo discharge operations at Gebze on Feb 1, 2020. Repairs were to be carried out by the stevedore duty teams upon completion of discharge operations. The vessel sailed again on Feb 2 at 8.15 p.m., bound to Galati with an ETA as of Feb 5.

Ship in steady danger of disaster due to negligence

Fri Nov 27 09:24:49 CET 2015 Timsen

After the "Ibla" berthed in Monfalcone on Nov 10, 2015, the ship was detained after a PSC inspection, which found a number of deficiencies, including massive corrupted steel areas and structural deficiencies with a water leak in the engine room. The master and officers of the vessel were taken to court and charged with negligence, because the vessel was recognized as a danger to shipping, with a probability of disaster even in calm seas. The leak was temporarily sealed, and the ship was obliged to undergo repairs in a repair yard with drydocking. After that, the vessel was permitted to make a single journey to Montenegro, where she was to undergo permanent repairs for enot risking being banned from EU waters. The ship arrived at Bijela on Nov 24.
