Koper Best Connected Container Port in Adriatic, 80th in World
The Koper port placed 80th on this year’s list of 900 best connected container ports in the world, published by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad). The port has been listed the highest among all Adriatic Sea container ports since the first such ranking in 2006. The first place went to the Shanghai port, while the port of Antwerp was the best in Europe, having been placed 6th in the world.
Konecranes to deliver more electric RTGs to Luka Koper in Slovenia
he Port of Koper operator in Slovenia, Luka Koper d.d., has ordered five electric Konecranes RTG cranes. The cranes will be equipped with cable reels featuring an auto plug-in system. They will be delivered in the summer of 2019.
Yang Ming returns to Koper
Yang Ming has recently set up a new weekly service between Koper and the ports of Piraeus and Damietta. Both major hubs provide regular service to various destinations in the Mediterranean and the Far East, the company said in its press release. Yang Ming offers transhipment to/from the Far East through the carrier alliance »THE Alliance« via two services: the Mediterranean Loop 1 (MD1) and Mediterranean Loop 2 (MD2). Containers from Piraeus and Damietta are then transported to Koper via Adria Express (ADX) feeder service. Yang Ming’s first containers are expected in Koper this May.
