Collision on the Weser
The "Helga" was in collision with another ship on Feb 15, 2013, at 1 p.m. on the lower Weser. It was hit by the "Wittenbergen" which was shifting from the SB III berth in Brake to the North Pier in dense fog and was underway northward Close to shore. As the captain of the "Wittenbergen" misjudged the speed of the flood current his ship veerred to starboard and drifted into the fairway where the "Helga" was underway to Bremen. The "Helga" was unable to get away. Both ships were slightly damaged. The "Helga" proceeded to Bremen and docked in the Industry Port at 3.45 p.m. where the police launched an investigation aside those of the colleagues in Brake. A safety deposit had to be paid by the master of the "Wittenbergen".
