Eiksund disabled by leak in oil cooler

Wed Jan 23 22:06:36 CET 2013 Timsen

The "Eiksund" was disabled on Jan 22, 2013, around 7 a.m., due to technical trouble. Service men went on board in order to find out what was wrong with the engine and it was hoped to get started in the evening. There was no replacement Ferry available as the "Driva" was frozen in ice at Klevset. A leak in an oil cooler finally was found to have caused the engine trouble aboard the "Eiksund". The repair was finished around 10 p.m., and the ship resumed normal operation on the Arasvika-Hennset route.

Grounding a fault of power transmission system

Mon Oct 31 22:03:56 CET 2011 Timsen

A recurring error in the control in the power transmission system that has nothing with either the Inpower Works or the thruster builder Brunvoll caused the grounding of the ferry on Sep 9. The builders of the propulsion and steering system are responsible for this fault. Unfortunately, no parts to repair the broken thruster are available, and therefore the ferry will not be back on the Vinjefjorden until February 2012. Ferry refloated

Sat Sep 10 22:54:00 CEST 2011 Timsen

After 13 hours, the grounded "Eiksund" was pulled back into the water by a tug on Sep 10. The cause of the accident is still unclear. The crew was drug tested without result. The ferry had only one car on board when the accident happened. It belonged to a crew member. One of them had suffered a minor injury and was taken to a doctor for examination.
