Fri Mar 15 10:32:00 CET 2019 Timsen

The "E.R. Kobe" suffered a fire in containers on its upper deck on Feb 14, 2019, in Chinese waters. T he ship was on scheduled voyage from Hongkong to Shanghai. It was re-directed to Hong Kong, and the fire was thought to be extinguished. On Feb 23 the vessel was at Luhuashan anchorage. The fire restarted on Feb 24. On March 9 the ship was taken to Shanghai and moored at Changxing. On March 13 it was taken to the inner anchorage of Shanghai, where she was surrounded by SAR/firefighting ships and boats. The vessel proceeded to the Luhuashan anchorage where all remaining 43 containers loaded with charcoal have been safely discharged. The vessel was then shifted from Yuanyuansha anchorage to the Waigaqiao terminal. A detailed investigation of the cargo damage and the claims handling was ongoing. All actions were being taken in coordination with charterer, agents, P&I and the port authorities. The ship was expected to later continue on her way with an adjusted schedule. She is under the management of manager ER Schiffahrt GmbH & Cie KG and deployed on the ICC service on a rotation of: China, Singapore, Malaysia, India, and back to Sri Lanka. The vessel remained moored in pos. 31° 53.42' N 122° 48.41' E off Shanghai on March 21. She arrived at Qianwan on March 31 at 7 p.m.
