Waste oil was improperly secured
On June 6, 2016, the "Perelik" was subject of a port statecontrol by officers of the Water Police Station Brake in the port of Nordenham after the ship berthed at Rhenus Nord, having come from Abidjan. They remarked two heavily corroded oil drums with am easily removable closure which were only secured with ropes on the upper deck 1, Investigations revealed that they contained waste oil. The proper disposal had not been requested in Nordenham. As this way of storage of waste oil was a criminal, criminal proceedings against those responsible were the consequence. The prosecutor Oldenburg ordered the payment of a security fine of 1,000 euros for the 36-year-old Bulgarian captain and the 56-year-old Bulgarian chief. The Port Authority Brake ordered the disposal of the used oil during the time spent in Nordenham.
