Grounding in Great Belt averted

Mon Jun 11 22:01:02 CEST 2012 Timsen

The Vessel Traffic Control in the Great Belt has averted a grounding at Hatter Barn in the morning of June 11, 2012. The "Green Costa Rica" crossed the fairway to the opposite side and was in danger of getting stuck there. Great Belt VTS was able to get in contact with the ship before a grounding, and the ship with its draft of 7.4 meters followed the instructions from the VTS. The "Green Costa Rica" was en route from Panama to St. Petersburg when the incident occurred.
