Two vehicle carriers broke lose in Antwerp

Fri Oct 22 19:22:03 CEST 2021 Timsen

On Oct 21, both the 'Grande Ghana' and the 'Grande Argentina' broke loose from their berths 1303 + 1307 at the AET Terminal and Port of Antwerp in stormy conditions. The Port confiscated both berths until the Nautical Commission released the ships for sailing after being inspected by a member of the Nautical Commission. As of Oct 22, they remained stationary in port. The ship which had been berthed in the Kieldrecht lock, suffered a three-meter long breach in the hull, five meters above the waterline. Both ships remained stationary as of Oct 25.
