Ferry towed to Gismarvik after unloading weapon systems

Wed Dec 11 10:28:43 CET 2024 Timsen

On Dec 10 at 11 a.m., two tugs took the "Finlandia Seaways" in tow in Husøy. The ship was towed to Gismarvik, where it was berthed at the deep water quay at 3 p.m. the same day. During the recent days, the weapons systems and the anti-aircraft protection to be used at the Polish airfield Rzeszow-Jasionka, near the border with Ukraine, which it had loaded, was transferred onto the 'Belgia Seaways' (IMO: 9188233) at the quay at Husøy, being was guarded by armed guards from local forces from the Home Guard. The defense had to secure the area on Husøy, and created a "temporary military restricted area". In the dead of night, personnel carried out the reloading of the anti-aircraft systems from one ship to the other.
