Engine failure off Dardanelles Strait
En route from Beirut to Poti, the 'FG Sefa' suffered an engine failure on Sep 1, 2024, at around 8.45 p.m. UTC north of the Dardanelles Strait in the area of the Karanlık Liman Anchorage. Under the coordination of our Çanakkale Ship Traffic Services Center, the ship was safely moored at around 10 p.m. in pos. 40° 02' N 026° 19' E for repairs by the crew. ASVIRA anchor interlocked with TALOS anchor, ship allides with pier at Rethymno
General cargo vessel ASVIRA was unmooring in Rethymno port, Crete, on Oct 22. Portside anchor either caught starboard anchor of ro-ro TALOS in the process of heaving. Entangled anchor put vessel out of control, ASVIRA allided with pier and suffered three scratches or cracks in aft area, one meter length each. Both vessel were detained for inspection, TALOS had to offload vehicles bound for Piraeus. As of 0700 UTC Oct 25 Asvira was still in Rethymno.
