The "Fairway - LK 270" with 3 crew on board, tackled an engine room fire 40 miles North East of Lerwick in the night of Sep 19, 2010. Shetland Coastguard were alerted just before 10 p.m. by a Mayday broadcast from the "Fairway LK 270", who reported a fire in the engine room. Whilst the crew tackled the engine room blaze, Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 102 from Sumburgh and Lerwick RNLI Lifeboat headed to the fishing vessels position. Following a Mayday Relay broadcast issued by Shetland Coastguard, the Danish fishing vessel Stroemegg arrived at the scene and has been joined by the Scottish fishery protection vessel "Jura". With the fire in the engine room out, the vessel was waiting for the engine room to cool down to see if the engines can be restarted. If not the RNLI Lifeboat or "Jura" would tow the vessel back to Lerwick. There were no reported casualties.
