Container ship remains in Málaga following salvage by Tsavliris in February

Mon May 08 09:41:17 CEST 2017 Timsen

The "Efendi Baba" remained moored at the Romero Dobbledo (Muelle 7) in Málaga since Feb 9, 2017, after having suffered main engine problems north-east of Tenes, following its departure from Istanbul on Jan 31. Tsavliris Salvage dispatched the British tug "MTS Vigilant" from Cartagena to its assistance. The "Efendi Baba" was loaded with around 6,300 tons of steel products and was adrift in bad weather conditions and strong currents. The rate of drift was slowed after the port anchor was lowered and soon after the "MTS Vigilant" arrived and established a towage connection, being monitored by the Algerian Coastguard vessel "Al-Munjid". The ship was towed into international waters and then to Málaga where it was handed over to port tugs and remained there since.
