69 migrants rescued off Zakynthos

The Central Port Authority of Kalamata was informed in the afternoon of Aug 26, 2022, by the MRCC of the Greek Coast Guard about a migrant boat requesting assistance 26 nnautical miles southwest of Zakynthos, with a sufficient number of people on board. The 'Jana Rosa', which was nearby, along with a patrol boat carried out the rescue of 69 boat people, who had set off in the early morning hours of Aug 22 from the Turkish coast near Izmir. At Kalamata roads the castaways were transferred onto a patrol boat in the morning hours on Aug 27 and safely transported to the port. The Central Port Authority of Kalamata, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, arrested six of the abovem for illegal entry into the country and illegal trafficking.

Engine failure in the Dardanelles

Enroute from Trieste to Tekirdağ, the 'HC Jana Rosaa' suffered an engine failure on the way back to Nara on Oct 15, 2021, at 11.30 a.m. The ship was anchored in Şevketiye under the coordination of the Vessel Traffic Services, accompanied by a pilot and the tugs 'Kurtarma 15' and 'Kurtarma 16'. Caaptain medevaced off Saudi Arabia

The 'HC Jana Rosa' issued a distress signal on Nov 6, 2019, reporting that its Captain was suffering from a severe intestinal catarrh and was in need of an immediate medevac in Red the Rea near Hodeidah Port, Yemen. 'The MRCC Cyprus retranslated the message to the MRCC Jeddah. The Saudi Arabian Navy and Coastguard asked the ship to proceed to Saudi waters, where it was met by Saudi Navy and Coastguards ships and a helicopter. The 52-year old Ukrainian captain was taken off and transferred to hospital. His condition was described as “stable”. The bulk carrier meanwhile ailed back to Hodeidah and as of evening Nov 7, was cruising in legs off Hodeidah, the port of destination.
