Barge suffered water ingress in Enkhuizen
In the afternoon of July 6, 2016, the "Dankbaarheid" which was berthed at the Krabbergat lock in Enkhuizen suffered water ingress, started to list and requested the Coastguard to assist. At 5.47 p.m. both lifeboats of the KNRM station Enkhuizen were alerted and reached the site eight minutes later. The water in the workshop of the barge had a height of 1,5 meters. Also the salvage ship "Odin" attended with a pump, and with on the whole five dewatering pumps the situation could be brought under control, and the water level dropped. A faulty vent was found to have been the cause of the water ingress. After a big barrel with tar paint fell in the workshop its contents mixed with the inflowing water. Several survival suit,s pumps, hoses and the lifeboat were contaminated by the substance, so the lifeboat Crew, after coming back to the boathouse, spent some time with cleaning the equipment.
