Disabled container ship towed to Piraeus
The 'AS Rosalia' was disabled with 17 crew members on board due to a mechanical failure between Kythera and the Peloponnese in pos. 36 20 58 N, 023 09 34 E on Oct 16, 2021, at 7.15 p.m. en route from Piraeus to Rijeka. It went adrift in westerly winds of 5 Beaufort. The vessel was towed to Piraeus anchorage by the tug 'Lyboussakis Chios' on Oct 18 at 7.26 a.m. On Oct 19 the tugs 'Leon' (IMO:8312007) and 'Christos XIII' (IMO:8127921) took it in tow to Piraeus. It berthed at the Piraeus Container Terminal SA on Oct 19 at 1.20 p.m. to unload its cargo before commencing repairs.
Two fishermen dead in collision
The 'AS Rosalia', while en route from Istanbul to Constanta, was in collision with the Turkish fishing boat 'Erkenoğlu' under the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge in Istanbil in the afternoon of June 17, 2021, while transiting the the Bosphorus in northern direction. The fishing boat partially sank. The tugs Kurtarma 12' and 'Mehmetçik' as well as the lifeboat 'KEGM 8' and the 'harlisiye 1' responded immediately. Of the three fishermen on boardm, two were prpnounced dead after being taken to hospital by the Coast Guard. The third suffered injuries. The container ship completed the transit and anchored off Kumköy for investigations by the Port Authority. The half submerged wreck of the fishing boat was secured and taken to the Poyraz Port.
